Riverfront Home Plan with a Modern Lofty Interior
Bates Masi Architects created this modern, contemporary riverfront home in Noyack, NY, bringing new, natural luxury to the term "casual." Designed for an actor with rest and relaxation in mind, this home plan “became a study in architectural theatre: a series of spaces in a carefully scripted sequence that subtly reflect his professional life,” explains the architect. A simple, modern facade makes way for gorgeous, light-filled interiors. Expansive windows boast views of the riverfront and gardens, and are covered by perforated privacy screens which slide opened or closed. The architect had some great loft design ideas, with a main living area overlooked by upstairs living spaces. Note the cool wood floor planks, which change direction to demarcate the kitchen, living and dining areas of this open concept house plan. A bold staircase along a glass wall leads up to the second floor, where a master bedroom is connected to the ensuite via a bridge overlooking the downstairs living spaces. Bates Masi Architects.

The Fish House by Guz Architects in Singapore
Guz Architects is the company responsible for creating one of Singapore’s most staggering homes, dubbed as the Fish House, a modern tropical bungalow that encapsulates the essence of living here. The main design concept was to create a house which has a close relationship with nature and that was achieved by using only natural materials and by having a swimming pool linking the house with the surrounding landscape. The basement level media-room has an u-shaped acrylic window which allows natural light in and also allows guests to enjoy beautiful views of the pool. On the upper levels, the big floor to ceiling windows also fill this modern home with light and provide stunning views of the ocean.
The curved roof of the home symbolizes the waves of the sea, in an effort to connect with the nearby sea. The roof is almost totally covered with thin bendable photovoltaic panels which supply enough solar energy to the house making this house really energy efficient and giving its residents the opportunity to live in harmony and comfort with the surrounding landscapes.
